Halter - Pornography & Gambling Issues

Bill Halter website identifies him as a family man and member of the Catholic church. Why then do we see "gray cloud" surrounding Halter and his campaign? Why do we hear the words pornography and gambling linked continually with Halter? One reason seems to be his prior paid position on the board of directors for Akamai Technologies, Inc. before running for office. Another his support for the Lottery and for gays adopting children.

When "googling" the words "Akamai Technologies" and "pornography," it doesn't take long to see that Akamai Tech made millions via pornography and gambling. In the primary, many Arkansans got the first whiff of this issue when Halter's democrat opponent Tim Wooldridge identified the issue which was picked up by the Associated Press (AP) in June, 2006: Lt. Gov. candidate criticized over business ties. Tim Wooldridge criticized Bill Halter for "profiting from online gambling and internet pornography" by sitting on the board of Akamai Technologies, Inc.
The AP reported that Halter had served on the company's board since August 2001 and that Akamai spokesman Jeff Young says the company will "phase out its relationship with adult-oriented sites." Wooldridge said that the company has "long-term business relationships" with the adult-oriented sites.

Another interesting source on Akamai Technologies was from an Internet Gambling Magazine (caution on link) which reported in 11 Dec 2002 (20 days to 2003), that "Akamai Technologies has begun phasing out delivery of porn and gambling sites via servers installed at universities and colleges." An Akamai spokesperson would not comment on specific servers but reiterated Akamai's official line that it is phasing out its relationships with three gambling sites and with porn sites. He could not say whether the changes are permanent. Akamai says it is no longer seeking business from pornography sites or gambling sites ... but has not said when it expects to be out of the business.

Halter won the Democrat Primary over Tim Wooldridge. Has the AR Democrat Party moved so far left that it has left its voter base? With its recent platform change rejecting traditional marriage, Halter's statement at the first debate that he supports adoption by gays, and his past association with the pornography industry and gambling, many Democrats will face a dilemma for the Lt. Governors race. They can vote for Halter who is far left than their beliefs, vote for Jim Holt who is more in align with their beliefs, or they can "gamble" by not voting at all.

Vic Snyder Votes Against Public Expression of Religion Act

Vic Snyder, Arkansas 2nd District Congressman was the lone extremely liberal member of the Arkansas Congressional delegation who voted for absolute liberalism and the ACLU. He voted No on Tuesday to the Public Expression of Religion Act (HR 2679) with passed with final vote of 244 to 173. Our other three Arkansas congressmen, 2 Democrats and 1 Republican, voted Yes on the bill. Role Call Vote ..

The bill would prohibit judges from awarding taxpayer dollars to lawyers such as those hired by the ACLU in religious freedom cases. Remember those ACLU laywers who weere supposed to be working for free to help save our civil liberties but are now making money by attacking religious freedom. The bill doesn't stop ACLU lawyers (who are paid by the ACLU) from representing clinets but it will remove the dollar incentives for nonprofit lawyers who have filed frivioulous lawsuits - which they have done often agaist Chrisitan groups. Voters of the 2nd District - please help yourself and the rest of Arkansas - Snyder is NOT supporting your values and beliefs - time to say NO to Snyder in November by Voting for Andy Mayberry!

Critical Election Year - Dems Say Higher Taxes

Everything is on the line in this critical election year! Both in Arkansas and in the US Congress! Just ask Charles Rangel, the man who would write tax law as House Ways & Means Committee chairman under a Democrat majority. When it comes to raising your taxes in 2007, Rangel just this week said "Everything has to be on the table." Here's how the National Journal reported it: "Asked whether tax increases across the spectrum would be considered, [Rangel] replied, 'No question about it.'"

Just when you thought across-the-board tax increases were a thing of the past - a relic of the Clinton era - one of the most powerful Democrats lays it all out for us: if Democrats are allowed to take control,
they will raise your taxes - and everyone else's. This is the choice we face. Either we fight them this year, or we fight them next year, when the threats of tax increases from Speaker Pelosi and Chairman Rangel will no longer just be threats. Get out there and support your Republican congressional candidate: 1st District Stubby Stumbaugh, 2nd District Andy Mayberry, 3rd District Congressman John Boozman & 4th District Joe Ross.

Gunner Delay Will Protect Children

The Saline County sheriff?s office arrested more than 20 men on charges of stalking children over the Internet in the past three months, including eight men who were arrested in this week?s sex sting.. [Arkansas Democrat Gazette 9/29/06]

Gunner DeLay released Major Proposals Concerning Sexual Predators. DeLay wants Arkansas to have the toughest sexual predator laws in the country. Gunner DeLay said he wants major changes in how our state deals with sexual predatory offenses when he takes office. His plan includes stiffer sentences for sexual predators, letting juries determine risk levels for all sexual offenses, promoting his Safenet program, and passing the first anti-grooming law in the nation. The Safenet program includes educating parents, students, and teachers about the risk of Internet predators. His anti-grooming law would outlaw communication or contact between an adult and child that was designed to condition that child for a sexual encounter. ?Grooming? refers to the process that pedophiles go through to break down the defenses of children before they attempt an act of abuse. Contact Gunner Delay to discuss his plan..

Clinton was too often AWOL

When Bill Clinton cited Richard Clarke's book in his defense, he forgot that people might actually have read it. And when he rewrites history, he forgets other people were there and saw it differently. On Page 223 of Clarke's book, "Against All Enemies," he describes a meeting after al-Qaida's attack on the USS Cole. Clinton in the meeting said neither the CIA nor the FBI would verify al-Qaida's responsibility for the attack. Clarke quotes Mike Sheehan, a State Department official, as saying in frustration: "What's it going to take, Dick? ... "Does al-Qaida have to attack the Pentagon to get their attention?" As it turns out, that was the case.

In the Wallace interview, Clinton claimed that "if I were still president, we'd have more than 20,000 troops (in Afghanistan) trying to kill (bin Laden)." Well, sir, you were president and you didn't send any troops to Afghanistan or anywhere else to try to kill him. In fact, during all the multiple opportunities you had to deal al-Qaida a mortal blow before 9/11, Mr. Clinton, you failed .... When the World Trade Center was attacked in 1993, you went to court. When it was attacked in 2001, President Bush went to war .You were commander in chief, sir, and too often you were AWOL. Read More .. [INVESTOR'S BUSINESS DAILY Editorial 9/26/06]

Liar, Liar, Pants on Fire

In a Bill Halter news release, Halter acts like a child shouting "liar, liar, pants on fire." Has the stress of campaigning caused Halter to regress to dirty tricks? Or is his campaign staff running amok? Almost every Arkansan, except Halter and his staff, who knows Jim Holt will tell you that he is not a liar. Holt may get under your skin asking questions and standing for his positions on pro-life, illegal immigration, foster care, and taxes. But Holt doesn't tell "whoppers" as alleged by the Halter campaign. Halter's education at liberal Stanford University in CA or his time as a Washington DC insider must have included perfecting the "big lie" to deceive people . Halter even got the Arkansas Times to print his lies.

Well lets review Halter lies which can be revealed via documentation verses a rampage of allegations:
Halter Lie #1: "Holt cites a bogus study conducted by the Women's Prayer and Action Group." That partisan group apparently only received 30 comments to a teacher survey they sent out six years ago."
Truth: The study's cover letter that Halter calls bogus was signed by former Senator Peggy Jeffries, who served on the Senate Education Committee and was later appointed as a member of the State Board of Education by Governor Huckabee. It was sent to 711 teachers from a number of schools in the state varying in size.
Review the letter.
Truth: There were 30 pages of comments, not 30 comments, with 90% of them negative toward the educational reforms. 80% of the answers on the survey were negative but 90% of the comments were. Review Teachers Comments.

Truth: The teacher survey was conducted six years ago. The Women's Prayer and Action Group began two years ago.
Halter Lie #2: Halter picks one quote out of the 90% others that are negative toward educational reforms saying, "Ironically, one of the first teacher comments to the survey said: 'Quality teachers can not be kept or hired unless Arkansas teachers receive a large pay raise.'"
Truth: The survey depicts that when money is mentioned in the comments by the teachers, it is most often in reference to the money wasted by the educational reforms. To Review the Comments.
Halter Lie #3: "Women's Prayer and Action Group which is headed up by Holt campaign volunteer Debbie Pelley."
Truth: How does Halter know who heads up the Women's Prayer and Action Group. In fact. they have NO designated officers, and several different women take on responsibilities to pray and to write signed articles. Is Halter so desperate that he must attack a group of praying women involved in nonpartisan civic action?
Halter Lie #4 - by inference: Halter in an effort to "toot his own horn," assigns a someone else's comment to Jim Holt. The comment was NOT made by Jim Holt but by a Democrat who is supporting and working for the Holt's campaign to defeat Halter. The person called Halter's prior position with the SSA as a "low-level political appointment."
Truth: Holt did not say this comment - a democrat did! Another truth - some people of small stature need to be seen bigger than they actually are!
Truth: While working in the Clinton Administration and directing SSA activities, SSA funds continued to be depleted and used for other government activities. Halter also had to appear before Congress to address "integrity issues" at SSA.
Halter Lie #5 - by deception: Quoting Holt comment that "I've have been working tirelessly to reduce the tax burden in this state to bring in high paying jobs," Halter says Holt is "All talk and no action."
Truth: Halter identifies bills introduced by Holt (which was definitely action) which did not clear democrat controlled committees . Holts' bills were 'dead on arrival" because Halter's fellow "Tax and Spend" Democrats ran the committees.
Truth: These democrat Senate leaders have made Arkansans one of the most taxed peoples in the U.S. Holt is popular with the everyday Arkansan who is tired of the burden of taxes. Does Halter say how he will cut taxes?
Halter Lie #6: Halter's news release says he attended Stanford University for four years, and "beyond that has not lived one day in California. Bill Halter has been an Arkansas resident his entire life, even when he left the state to serve Arkansas and our country in the Clinton Administration."
Truth: Halter did not live in Arkansas while attending CA Stanford Univ. Halter did not live in Arkansas while attending Oxford Univ. in England. He lived in the Virginia, Maryland area for many years while serving in DC. Where did he go and work after leaving with the Clinton Administration? "On June 1, 2006, the Arkansas News Service reported that Democrat Bill Halter, who has touted his business experience and memberships on the boards of successful biotech firms in his campaign for lieutenant governor, has left the board of a California startup that has burned through nearly $500 million without ever turning a profit. The firm, which is also the target of a Justice Department investigation ... Halter was named to board of Brisbane, Calif.-based InterMune Inc. in July 2002".
It's time for Halter stop his "mud slinging lies" and to make his positions known to the voters!

Margin Continues to Narrow in Governors Race

Asa Hutchinson message is reaching Arkansas voters. Asa continues to narrow the margin with Mike Beebe. The previously close margin of 3.3% has narrowed in the last two weeks to 2.7% with Beebe at 45.7% and Hutchinson at 43%, well inside the 4.2% margin of error. This is according to the latest Wall Street Journal Zogby poll as of today (9/27). Follow the poll ... [Click Gubernatorial Races & run your mouse over Arkansas on the map]

Majority View on National Anthem & Immigration

We are sorry but after hearing they want to sing the National Anthem in Spanish -- enough is enough. Nowhere did they sing it in Italian, Polish, Irish (Celtic,) German or any other language because of immigration. It was written by Francis Scott Key and should be sung word for word the way it was written. The news broadcasts even gave the translation -- not even close. Sorry if this offends anyone but this is MY COUNTRY - IF IT IS YOUR COUNTRY SPEAK UP! We are not against immigration -- just come through like everyone else. Get a sponsor; have a place to lay your head; have a job; pay your taxes, live by the rules AND LEARN THE LANGUAGE as all other immigrants have in the past -- and GOD BLESS AMERICA!

Jim Holt vindicated by results of survey

Dan Noble said in a Holt Campaign press release today that "Senator Holt has been eviscerated for his stand on illegal immigration and called extreme by Mr. Halter. His opponent has used the terms 'inflammatory... race-baiting and demagoguery' more than once in reference to Senator Holt's stand on illegal immigration." Halter has publicly stated that he disagrees with Holt's sponsored SB 206 (2005) to deny illegal aliens state benefits except in the case of emergency.

Senator Holt was vindicated by a recent survey that revealed that more than 2/3 of Arkansans supported Senator Holt's SB 206 to deny state tax payers benefits to illegal aliens. "A view held by 2/3 of the electorate could hardly be called 'extreme'." The electorate is far more in tune with Senator Holt's views than the views of Halter.

Senator Holt has a clear position on illegal immigration. He led the fight in the Senate to defeat HB 1525 which would have given scholarships and in state tuition to illegal aliens. If HB1525 had been a tie, the Lt. Governor would have had to vote to break the tie. Noble asked, "Which way would Halter have voted" if he were Lt. Governor? Similar bills may be proposed in future legislative sessions. Halter continues to hide and not identify whether he supports amnesty for illegal aliens and open borders. Halter, an unknown quantity in Arkansas and voters want to know where he stands on illegal immigration. Fortunately, Arkansans know where Jim Holt stands - he stands with them!

Democrats Stuck on 'New Direction' in Iraq?

According to Democrats, the war in Iraq is a "complete failure" Democrats in both the House and the Senate are calling for a "new direction" in the war effort. But what does that mean? As a group, they aren't saying.

And Rep. Murtha (D-Pa.) has suggested that U.S. troops can defend Iraq from outside the country: "We don't have to be right there [in Iraq],"
Murtha said in June, in an appearance on NBC's Meet the Press. "We can go to Okinawa... our fighters can fly from Okinawa very quickly." Read More

Note: if a republican had made Mutha statement, democrats and the news would have "cried dumb doesn't know geography." Will someone tell Murtha that Okinawa is in the Pacific Ocean? We are not going to fly from Okinawa to Iraq "very quickly" let alone being able to do so with any effect on Iran. First we would have to cross China or cross Indonesia and then India, Pakastan, etc . Or maybe the US could take the long away around the Asian and Indian contenent. I think not!

Arkansas remediation rate shocks Gov. Huckabee

Little Rock, Arkansas - At the Sept 20, 2006, Next Step High School Redesign Summit at the Statehouse Convention Center, Governor Huckabee revealed, " ... some startling statistics ... took my breath away. Twenty percent of Arkansas ninth graders do not stay in school until graduation. The rate is even higher for African-Americans and Hispanic students. More than 50 percent of Arkansas students who go straight to college require remedial courses in both math and English. ... Academically, ...Arkansas' high schools are in crisis."

These "startling statistics" were in direct conflict with the Commissioner of Arkansas Department of Education, Dr. Ken James previous released commments [
Read comments]. It is totally astounding that the governor would say he didn't know these things. However, the conflict between statistics did not prevent the Governor from joining the Commissioner in announcing another new program called Next Step for Arkansas? Future that is supposed to focus on the "redesign of high schools so all students are prepared for life after graduation." The Women's Prayer & Action Group expressed concerns over this new program!

Illegals From Terror-Sponsoring Nations at Large in US

Almost half of the illegal aliens arriving in the U.S. from terrorist-sponsoring or "special interest" nations in the past few years have been released into the American population following their apprehension. "Catch and release" policies have allowed more than 45,000 illegal aliens from countries that are well known for their anti-American views or considered "hotbeds of Islamic fundamentalism" to be freed. The liberal media is not disclosing the real truth about immigration. American citizens are not being told the full story, and are being deceived with misinformation. Tell the UN to prevent a nuclear armed Iran

Recent events in the Middle East have been of great concern. Iran has been supporting a terrorist war against Israel through Hamas and Hezbollah. Iran's president Ahmadinejad has publicly stated his desire to "wipe Israel off the map" and "Allah willing Islam will conquer all the mountain tops of the world." Now Ahmadinejad has restarted his country's capacity to enrich uranium needed to create a nuclear bomb and closed all of its facilities to monitoring from the international community. Iran has chosen to reject U.N. Security Council Resolution 1696 which requires the immediate suspension of all enrichment-related activities and strict monitoring by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). It's time for the U.N. to act before it's too late. Click here to sign the petition today.

Mehlman Lays Out Choice For Mid-Term Voters

RNC Chairman Ken Mehlman writes in the Wall Street Journal (9/22/06), "Last month's narrowly averted plot to blow up airliners bound for the U.S. from Great Britain is a stark reminder that we are engaged in an extraordinary and dangerous global war. In 46 days, the American people will make an important decision about how we prosecute that war: Do we stay on the offense and use every tool available to defeat the enemy, or do we elect leaders who would weaken America and surrender key tools we need to defeat the global jihad?" Mehlman adds that "there can be no doubt about the national and international import of the choice we all face as Americans. We face war and a changing global economy, and Republicans have very different strategies for victory than the Democrats." Read More

Ken James, State Department of Education Commissioner, in a Democrat Gazette guest editorial (9/10/06), said, "Never in this state have we been able to boast the academic progress we?ve experienced in the last few years. To be able to do so in such a short time is nothing short of amazing." In response, to the article, Women's Prayer & ActionGroup asks if the editorial qualify as "government propaganda" and identify some not so amazing facts about Arkansas Education:

  • Nancy Pelosi wants to be President

The Speaker of the House is first in succession, after the Vice President to become President of the United States. Make no mistake about it - if Nancy Pelosi becomes Speaker of the House she will work to impeach the President. Mrs. Pelosi does not want Hillary Clinton to become the first woman President - she wants that title for herself. Nancy Pelosi has told The Washington Post the first thing her party would do if it won control of the House would be "to launch a series of investigations, including the run-up to the war. She has said that impeachment was not on the agenda, but added: "You never know where it leads to."

Vic Snyder hard core protection for illegal aliens

Vic Snyder continues to demostrate that he is hard core in supporting protection of illegal aliens. The proof is in his actions. His votes demostrate his support of illegal immigration. While our three other congressmen (2 democrates & 1 republican) voted yes, Snyder is the ONLY Arkansas US Congressman to vote NO on the following three bills to reduce illegal aliens:
H.R. 6094 ... Passed 328-95 Community Protection Act of 2006. Who Voted Provides for the detention of dangerous aliens, the removal of deportable criminal aliens, and the inadmissibility and deportability of aliens participating in street gang activity.
H.R. 6095 ... Passed 277-140 Immigration Law Enforcement Act of 2006 Who Voted Reaffirms the inherent authority of state and local law enforcement to enforce federal immigration laws. Hopefully, a strong symbol to all the local governments around the country who just now are flexing their enforcement muscles to try to break up illegal populations in their communities.
H.R. 6061 ... Passed 283-138 the Secure Fence Act of 2006 Who Voted Called for a double-layered fence to protect about a third of the long and porous border. Reported on previously

Snyder like all other Members of Congress did not want to face the voters this fall and explain why they wanted to protect the tunnels, so he did vote yes on H.R. 4830 ... Passed 422-0 The Tunnel Bill Who Voted Creates explicit penalties for construction and/or use of a border tunnel because there have not been explicit laws against digging networks of tunnels under our borders -- this bill was overdue.

    UN Tax - Dangerous Precedent

Too often, voters in an election year wait to be asked by candidates for Congress for support. It should be the voters who put the candidates on the spot.

In 2004, 115 countries supported a resolution before the United Nations General Assembly to study international taxes to finance development. France has already has instituted an international tax on air travel and nine other countries have expressed similar interest. Propenents for the tax contends the United States is a leading opponent of international taxation and that the US position is a disgrace. Halter, Holt clashed on immigration, schools, wages

LITTLE ROCK, AR - In their first debate (9/18/06) , Republican State Senator Jim Holt and Democrat Bill Halter, the statewide candidates for Lieutenant Governor of Arkansas, met at the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service. Halter and Holt clashed on illegal immigration, prekindergarten classes in public schools and the state's minimum wage. Holt stood firm that marriage should be between a man and woman and that the state shouldn't allow gays to be foster parents. When pressed by Holt on the issue of adoptions by gays, Halter answered "yes" that he favors gays being able to adopt children.

Halter argued that prekindergarten classes and better education overall had a direct effect on wages, that wages are tied directly to the skill of the people earning them. Holt identified that businesses capable of hiring the higher-skilled workers do not come to the state because Arkansas' high taxes give it one of the worst business climates in the nation and that spending another $40 million for more prekindergarten classes adds another burden on the people of Arkansas. Asked if illegal immigrants who have jobs should be allowed to stay in the United States, Holt said no: "Either we are a nation of laws or we are not. What about the other employees of this state, who can't get a high-paying job because illegal immigrants drive down wages?" . Holt supported the majority opinion of Arkansans and was a major legislative opponent of a scholarship program for illegal aliens in Arkansas. Halter and Holt are scheduled to debate again in October. The debate will be aired October 12 on the Arkansas Educational Telecommunications Network.

I.R.S. Eyes Religious Groups as More Enter Election Fray

With midterm elections less than two months away, Christian conservatives are enlisting churches in eight battleground states to register voters, gather crowds for rallies and distribute voters' guides comparing the candidates' stands on issues that conservatives consider "family values." However, this year, the religious conservatives are facing resistance from newly invigorated religious liberals and moderates who are creating their own voters' guides and are organizing events designed to challenge the conservatives' definition of "values. Religious flanks are looking nervously over their shoulders at the Internal Revenue Service, which this year announced a renewed effort to enforce laws that limit churches and charities from involvement in partisan political campaigns. 1st AR Gubernatorial Debate Video

KAIT/Ch. 8 in Jonesboro has the video from the debate posted on their website. Thoughts on the debate:
    1) The debate makes it clear that only Asa Hutchinson is committed to cutting taxes, especially eliminating the sales tax on groceries. In 20 years in the Arkansas Senate, Mike Beebe voted for billions of dollars in tax hikes and never made killing the grocery tax a priority. Asa has a strong tax-cutting record!
    2) Asa is the only candidate with a plan to fight illegal immigration by training state police to enforce immigration laws and cracking down on hiring of illegal workers. Mike Beebe has no plan for fighting illegal immigration ast shown by his response in the debate.
    3) When questioned on his past failure to lead the way in killing the grocery tax, Beebe lashes out at Asa by attacking him for not being around to vote on the issue in 2002. Well, yes, at that time Asa was serving as head of the Drug Enforcement Administration, leading the nation?s fight against illegal drugs. Beebe?s angry response gives a clear glimpse of how he handles pressure and challenges to his thinking ? and it highlights the stature gap between the two candidates.

Political Correctness Affecting U.S. Winning A War

Bill Cosby once did a comedy routine wherein he described the "rules" of the American Revolution. Intoning, as would a referee, Cosby announced that the British had to fight in the open, wearing bright red uniforms, that they must march in straight lines and could fire their muskets only when the order was given. Meanwhile, the colonists could wear clothing that blended into the landscape, could hide behind rocks and trees and could fire at will.
Unfortunately, American forces in Iraq and Afghanistan find themselves in a decidedly unfunny situation that is eerily similar to the comedic description Cosby gave us all those years ago.

'Radical Christianity' as Threatening as Radical Islam?

Stupid comment of the week: Now, as a co-host member of Barbara Walters' chat show "The View," Rosie O'Donnell has a new forum to spew her left wing rants, and hopefully viewers will send her back to the unemployment line. In a discussion of the events of Sept 11, 2001, O'Donnell told a nationwide audience this week that "radical Christians" are the same as radical Muslims who piloted hijacked jetliners into New York's Twin Towers, who chop off the heads of individuals and who bomb innocent children in suicide attacks.

"Radical Christianity is just as threatening as radical Islam in a country like America where we have separation of church and state," O'Donnell said. She had been saying that America was attacked "not by a nation." She continued: "And as a result of the attack and the killing of 3,000 innocent people, we invaded two countries and killed innocent people." Even her liberal co-hosts were shocked by her comments. Co-host Joy Behar protested that Christians are not trying to impose mass murder on America. "This group (radical Muslims) is threatening to kill us." Replied O'Donnell: "No, but we are bombing innocent people in other countries. True or false?" O'Donnell was saying there is no difference between the radical Muslims who kill in the name of Allah and Bible-believing Christians who follow the teachings of Jesus.
Neither O'Donnell nor ABC apologized for the comments. Read More

Arkansas Democrat State Candidates Fail to Answer Questions

Arkansas News Bureau, Little Rock: Statewide Democrat candidates for governor, lieutenant governor, secretary of state and attorney general did not answer questions posed by a conservative pro-family organization for its online voting guide for the 2006 general election. The Arkansas Voters Guide is the Internet version of a print publication that the Arkansas Family Council has put out for 16 years. The guide prints the answers given by each candidate to a number of questions on topics, this year ranging from gay foster parents to the sales tax on groceries. The questions are not partisan and are about issues that have come up in the news in Arkansas. The questions covered several controversial topics in Arkansas politics, including the candidate's views on granting scholarships to the children of illegal immigrants and the Roe v. Wade court decision that legalized abortion.

Democrat Lieutenant Governor candidate Bill Halter spokesman said the conservative nature of the group had nothing to do with Halter's failure to respond to the questions. Democrat Attorney General candidate Dustin McDaniel spokeswoman cited time constraints for McDaniel not answering the questionnaire. Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mike Beebe's campaign said "not every interest group's questionnaire can be filled out." Read More

Arkansas Democrats Favor of Hidden Earmarks

The U.S. House of Representatives voted on Capitol Hill Thursday to require sponsors' names on "earmarks," which appropriate money for specific programs. H.RES.1003 providing for the adoption of the resolution (H.Res. 1000) passed the with a vote of 245-171. The resolution does not stop earmarks but does require the disclosure of earmarks and the names of those representatives inserting earmarks (pork spending in many cases like the "Bridge to No Where"). Boozman (R) voted for full disclosure. The Democrate contengent of Marion Berry (D), Vic Snyder (D) and Mike Ross (D) voted AGAINST disclosure of earmarks. Vote recorded! [Editor note: if disclosure had been in effect, potentially Marion Berry and Berry Farms would not have received over $800, 000 in farm subsidies.]

ARRA Editor Comment. The ARRA has endorsed Senator Jim Holt. Jim has again shown his strength of character and his willingness to go anywhere to debate his opponent and to get the conservative message out. Vic Snyder Votes Against Securing Borders

Three Arkansas Representatives, John Boozman (R), Marion Berry (D) and Mike Ross (D) voted for the best interests of Arkansas and the Unites States on H.R. 6061, the "Secure Fence Act of 2006," which called for a double-layered fence to protect about a third of the long and porous border. However, Vic Snyder aligned himself with the liberal left and against the majority of Arkansans and voted AGAINST securing our borders.

Arkansas voters of the 2nd District have the opportunity in November, to help both themselves and the rest of Arknasas by replacing Vic Snyder with a conservative candidate, Andy Mayberry, who will work to protect our traditional values and beleifs and to work for securing our borders!

University Officials Threaten to Arrest Conservative Student

Administrators at the University of Central Oklahoma at Edmond have threatened to arrest a student who was recruiting members for a conservative club. The student is accused of violating a university policy that requires permission to recruit for clubs. The student, Travis Cleek, was trying to identify fellow conservatives who were interested in starting a new conservative club on campus last week when police threatened to arrest him for trespassing, according to Michelle Miller, a spokeswoman for the conservative Leadership Institute. .... Miller called the lengthy process "pretty bizarre." .... it's "like the 'chicken and the egg' thing - how can you start a group if you can't recruit?" She said she didn't understand the process because "you have to recruit the people to start the group before you can start the process because you have to have the people."....

Cleek called on the university to "end this bureaucratic process which stifles the First Amendment rights of students." He called it "outrageous that students have to jump through so many hoops and pay $200 just to have their voices heard on campus." Student groups are required to pay the $200 fee to reserve a recruitment table on campus. ... University officials did not respond to requests for comment ... Read More ...

    House Passes Border-Fence Bill

(CNSNews.com) - Wasting no time on an issue of concern to many voters, the U.S. House of Representatives on Thursday passed a bill that would fence 700 miles of the U.S.-Mexican border.H.R. 6061, the "Secure Fence Act of 2006," calls for a double-layered fence to protect about a third of the long and porous border. A similar provision was included in a larger bill that the House passed last December, but with that bill stalled because of differences with Senate legislation, Republican leaders are forging ahead .... Democrats opposed The Secure Fence Act passed on a vote of 283-138, with 131 Democrats voting against the measure -- something that should concern the American people, Hastert said. Democrats Running In Circles To Find New Direction

September 15, 2006: Dems are still grasping unsuccessfully for a theme that can draw in voters this fall. Dana Milbank reports in today's Washington Post "House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, the woman who will become speaker of the House if Democrats get lucky in November, began her weekly news conference yesterday holding up a red-white-and-blue brochure. "I hope you all received 'A New Direction for America,'" she said, standing at a lectern that bore the same slogan. She called the manifesto 'a compilation of many of the initiatives taken by our House Democratic Caucus that encompasses our new direction for all Americans.' It was a handsome booklet, full of homey photographs and popular proposals, but there was a problem. Democrats have had more 'New Directions' recently than MapQuest. Among the party's campaign slogans this year: ?Culture of Corruption,' 'Culture of Cronyism,' 'Do-Nothing Congress,' 'Rubber-Stamp Congress,' 'Together, We Can Do Better,' 'Together, America Can Do Better' and, most recently, 'Six for '06.'" Not exactly surprising that a party with no leader, no direction, and no ideas would have this much trouble coming up with a slogan that sticks. by Katie MacGuidwin on 9/15/2006

    Payday Lenders funding Arkansas Democrats

According to research conducted by Arkansans Against Abusive Payday Lending and reviewed by Arkansas Business, known owners and operators of payday lending stores have funneled more than $60,000 into political campaigns for the 2006 election cycle, almost all of which went to the Arkansas Democratic Party or to Democratic candidates. ... With $36,800 in donations, the Arkansas Democratic Party is the biggest political beneficiary of payday lenders for the 2006 election cycle. Next in line are specific Democratic candidates: Dustin McDaniel, the party?s nominee for attorney general, and incumbent Rep. Mike Ross each received $10,000. Democrat Party - the party of homosexual marriage

State Representative Johnny Key, Minority Leader of the Arkansas House of Representative, asked today "Why do Democrats in Arkansas still try to insist that the Democrat Party isn't the party of homosexual marriage?" The article provides "plenty of proof" that they party advancing the agenda for homosexual marriage: Marriage fight heads to legislatures in N.Y., Calif. DNC promises to fight ballot measures, as Dean assails court ruling . Some excerpts:
"The Democratic National Committee, meanwhile, assisted a gay group in Illinois with its efforts to block an anti-gay marriage amendment from going before voters in November and has adopted a five-point plan for fighting similar ballot measures in other states, according DNC spokesperson Danien LaVera. "As we move forward in this election year, we will help in a variety of ways," LaVera said. ...
DNC's 5 Point plan to fight ballot measures LaVera said the DNC's five point plan for fighting state ballot measures calling for banning same-sex marriage includes a number of actions the DNC has already put in place. The first calls for labeling the anti-gay ballot measures "divisive" ploys by the Republicans and others to deflect voter attention from other important issues, including "the Bush's administration?s failed policies." Another consists of the state "party-building" operation that Dean started, LaVera said, which includes specific training for state party operatives in all 50 states on how to campaign against anti-gay ballot measures. ...

Conservative Democrat Supports Jim Holt for Lt. Governor

Arkansas Times Blog reports that Dan Noble, former campaign manager for Senator Tim Wooldridge, said, "This election cycle I have chosen to volunteer for Senator Holt's campaign and provide any assistance to his campaign in Little Rock and the surrounding areas. I still consider myself an Arkansas Conservative Democrat. Unfortunately, the Democratic nominee (Bill Halter) this year does not represent those beliefs. There are great differences between the two campaigns for Lt Governor ...."
Noble said, "This race is not just about serving the people of Arkansas by electing Senator Holt, a veteran who has devoted his life to serving his country and doing what is best for the people of this state. This race is also about showing why Holt?s opponent is not right for this office. Senator Holt's opponent may have left this state over two decades ago with Arkansas values, but he returned a California Liberal and should not be given the opportunity to serve the people of Arkansas."

Georgetown Univ. Ousts Conservative Christian Groups

Georgetown University (GU) has been open to multiple religious viewpoints and proudly proclaims its "religious diversity." GU in a notice said that after "evaluating many areas of Protestant Ministry?s mission," and GU's "Protestant Ministry has decided to move in another direction." GU said the Affiliated Ministry"s activities would be banned entirely from campus. America's Stake in the '06 Elections

Conservative America is justifiably angry over the lack of Republican representation it receives in Washington. The two biggest bones of contention, spending and immigration, ... Yet regardless of the particular issue in question, the detrimental effects of Republican ineptitude and half-hearted dedication to the party's undergirding principles, while certainly making the case for an overhaul of its leadership, does not suggest in any way that America should turn to the Democrats.
The fallout from a Democrat controlled Congress, both in its immediate adverse impact on traditional America as well as the long-term costs involved, would ultimately be far more harmful to the future of the country. And it is by no means guaranteed that such harm could be turned around for many years to come, even in the event that the country were to immediately recognize the error of empowering the left.
