By Bob McDowell: We are finally winding down to the 2012 Election which has been proclaimed by many as "the most critical election in memory". And yes, in my opinion, it is the most critical in my lifetime of eight decades plus. The decisions reached by the voting this year will, in my opinion, determine whether the USA will be in existence as a 'representative republic' by the end of the next presidential term, in 2016. We have been led far down the path away from the original founding principals for many years, actually since the turn of the last century.

Presidents and Congresses have chosen to ignore the restrictions placed on their actions by the Constitution and, in order to ensure re-election and power, have moved away from limited government and towards a powerful central government. This was something the founders, in their inspired wisdom, continually warned against and attempted to prevent happening.

In this election, we have facing us one of the most clear choices in candidates since the one in 1980 when Gov. Ronald Reagan managed to retire President James Earl Carter after one term. In my opinion, the current oval office occupant, President Obama, is an even worse example of what a president should be than Carter was. Therefor Obama needs to be retired for the survival of the Nation.

Unfortunately, the government (public) schools and some private schools have for many years failed to truthfully educate students in history and failed to promote the ability to think or to respect patriotism. Far too many people think that voting for 'handouts' from Government is in their best interest and so are easily swayed by false commercials and gimmicks. Recently it has surfaced that the Obama campaign is giving out free cell phones to gullible prospects.

In all this, The Obama campaign is ardently aided and supported by an eager media, populated by young members of the media who were misinformed by their education system and who lack loyalty to our national well being. There have been many instances of out and out lying in both print and electronic as well as more subtle actions of omission of information.

It was presented at the formation of our Nation that we could only exist as established if the voting public was informed and loyal to founding principles. It seems that some of the blame for our deviation from the original principles could be placed on the departure from our Christian background and conduct.

Our society has been inundated by the entertainment establishment with sleazy and violent programs. There have been computer games that teach violence toward others and the lack of respect for human life. The word GOD has been forcibly removed from many public and some private places. City governments are actively conspiring, with sympathetic judges, to prevent the building or enlarging of Christian churches or Jewish synagogues while allowing Muslim mosques to be built even on college campuses like the University of Tulsa.

I am thankful for those gravitating toward the "Tea Party" movement and a re-awakening of loyalty and common sense and a even the re-taking of control of the Republican Party. It should be remembered that the Republican Party was not founded until 1854 and was established with the primary goal of the abolishing of slavery. As this has not been taught in schools or churches, the result has been younger members of the Indian Tribes and the black community being supportive of the Democrat Party and its 'welfare' mentality.

Hopefully, the voting public has awakened and will return sanity to our governments in this all important election. If not, we may become another footnote in history. We must also be alert to all attempts at vote fraud. Those who deny its existence do so at the peril of all of us.
