Info Post
H/T Michelle Malkin
by Gary Bauer: Thousands of union protestors who have occupied the Wisconsin Capitol found a new ally yesterday -- the Capitol Police Department. The capitol building has been under siege for days by left-wing protestors, and according to one state agency, "was in dire need of a cleaning."

Indeed it was. As you can see from this picture, the Wisconsin capitol building looks like a circus thanks to the mob that is occupying it. Even a memorial to Wisconsin's veterans was not spared.

The protestors were ordered to evacuate the building Sunday so that it could be cleaned. But according to the Associated Press, "it was clear that the estimated 4,000 protestors had no intention of leaving voluntarily." Faced with this blatant defiance, the Capitol police chief caved.

Chief Charles Tubbs said, "People here have acted lawfully and responsibly. There's no reason to consider arrests." Really? The protestors were told to leave and they refused. Most people would hardly call that "lawful."

Meanwhile, Gov. Walker isn't backing down. On "Meet the Press" yesterday, he said, "Year after year, governors and legislators before us have kicked the can down the road. We can't do that. We're broke. It's about time someone stood up and told the truth in our state and said here's our problem, here's the solution and let's do this." Richard Trumpka, head of the AFL-CIO, also appeared on "Meet the Press." He was asked twice whether he thought protest signs comparing Gov. Walker to Hitler and Mubarak were appropriate. Twice Trumpka refused to answer the question.

Not surprisingly, the non-stop coverage of the protests by CNN and other mainstream media outlets suddenly stopped over the weekend. It was becoming more and more obvious that these demonstrations have been taken over by the radical left-wing fringe. Wisconsin taxpayers would be outraged by pictures of bongo-banging and yoga exercises going on in the capitol, while the people's business has been suspended because Democrat senators went on the lam. Fox News is still covering the protests, when its reporters aren't being attacked by the "tolerant" progressives.

Meanwhile, some Wisconsin residents are taking matters into their own hands by launching recall efforts against the AWOL Senate Democrats. Good for them! Organizing a successful recall effort is a tough job, but any legislator who is unwilling to do his or her job ought to be fired.
