Info Post
ICYMI -  In an interview with “60 Minutes” last night President Obama stated he would be “surprised” if Americans felt satisfied with the current economic climate. Unemployment has remained above 8.5% for 33 months straight almost three years after the President signed the stimulus bill, despite promises unemployment would remain below 8%.

President Obama Says Americans Shouldn’t Feel Satisfied Three Years Into Presidency, Then Asks For Second Term. “I would be surprised if the American people felt satisfied right now. They shouldn't feel satisfied. We've got a lot more work to do in order to get this country and the economy moving in a way that benefits everybody, as opposed to just a few.” (“President Obama: The economy, the Congress, the future,” CBS News, 12/11/11)

A CBS Poll out this morning shows that Americans are not just unsatisfied with the economy, they’re overwhelming unsatisfied with President Obama’s lack of leadership and failed policies. A majority of Americans believe the President does not deserve a second term, and 60% of Americans disapprove of the President’s handling of the economy.

54% Of Americans Do Not Believe The President Deserves A Second Term. “Just 41 percent of Americans think Mr. Obama has performed his job well enough to be elected to a second term, whereas 54 percent don't think so.” (CBS News Poll, 12/12/11)

86% Of Americans Rate The Economy As Bad, 42% Say “Very Bad.”“86 percent of Americans characterize the economy as at least somewhat bad, including 42 percent who say it is very bad.” (Ibid)

60% Of Americans Disapprove Of How President Obama Is Handling The Economy. “Views of how he has handled the economy is the obvious drag on the president's ratings: While just 33 percent approve, 60 percent disapprove.” (Ibid)

58% Of Americans Disapprove Of President Obama’s Handling Of Job Creation. “Similarly, just 35 percent approve his handling of job creation while 58 percent disapprove. The last time Mr. Obama's approval rating on the economy was above 40 percent was in February of this year.” (Ibid)

Only 28% Say The President’s Policies Are Leading America In The Right Direction. “When it comes to leading the economy in the right direction, voters are unimpressed: Just 28 percent think he has made progress on improving the economy.” (Ibid)
