Info Post
Last week President Obama called for higher taxes on the wealthy during this recession. As the Boston Globe declared, "President Obama, whose party is facing a potential midterm disaster under relentless Republican assaults on his economic record, launched an ambitious effort yesterday to cast Democrats as populists who want to end tax breaks for the wealthiest Americans but save them for the middle class." It has been acknowledged but all except by a bazaar few that it is the wealthy provide money for investment and own the businesses that provide private sector jobs. Under the President's stated standard, he would tax excessively families earning $250,000 or more (regardless of number of family members), and individuals earning $200,000. These people are wealthy according to Barack Obama. that being the case, it also time for numerous Government positions to have their salaries rolled back for we the people never intended for the government to have jobs that made people wealthy.

Note, under Obama's criteria, if two people are living together without the benefit of matrimony and each earns $199,000, neither of them would be considered "wealthy" according to president. But if a couple is married, has five kids and two parents living with them and the couple earns as a family $250,000, this couple would be considered wealthy.

But even worse is that Obama's criteria includes individuals who are small business owners and are forced by IRS rules to claim as income all revenue over costs earned in a year as taxable income. These small businesses are prohibited from reserving funds for lean years or for future business development and expansion which could lead to hiring more people (new jobs) in the future. It does not matter to the IRS or the Obama administration that it is the small businesses which are the primary creator of new jobs or that the small businesses may experience lean years or losses in in future and thus may need financial reserves to prevent future layoffs, etc.

Now it is indeed interesting that President Obama has said in the past that "The Last Thing You Want To Do Is To Raise Taxes In The Middle Of A Recession.”
PRESIDENT OBAMA: “The Last Thing You Want To Do Is To Raise Taxes In The Middle Of A Recession Because That Would Just Suck Up -- Take More Demand Out Of The Economy And Put Businesses In A Further Hole.” (MSNBC, 8/5/09)

PRESIDENT OBAMA: “We Have Not Proposed A Tax Hike For The Wealthy That Would Take Effect In The Middle Of A Recession.” NBC’S CHUCK TODD: “But you might for health care. You might for the highest -- for some of the wealthiest.” PRESIDENT OBAMA: “The -- we have not proposed a tax hike for the wealthy that would take effect in the middle of a recession. Even the proposals that have come out of Congress, which, by the way, were different from the proposals I put forward, still wouldn't kick in until after the recession was over. So he is absolutely right, the last thing you want to do is to raise taxes in the middle of a recession because that would just suck up -- take more demand out of the economy and put businesses in a further hole. (MSNBC, 8/5/09)
So what is the real position of President Barack Obama? He said these statements 13 months as he was proceeding to forced through his economic agenda which has been a complete failure. He now seeks to kill (tax) the goose that lays the golden eggs (the wealthy). One has to wonder about both his agenda and his vitriol toward the wealthy especially business owners.

Post script:  Another point slightly off topic but still relevant with regard to taxes, when is President Obama going to make all the civilian government employees in his administration pay all their back taxes? Why are these individuals even employed and receiving more of our tax dollars and making decisions that in a myriad of ways affects the people who do pay taxes? Makes one wonder if this is new form of Obama subsidy to "special" government employees who do what they are told when they are told to do it against the American public. Make them pay immediately. We the People have no desire to subsidizing these civilian government employees any longer!
