The latest Rasmussen Reports shows Boozman picking up 60% support, while Lincoln picks up 35% support. Just two percent (2%) would prefer another candidate, while three percent (3%) are undecided. These figures are little changed from a month ago.

Just seven percent (7%) of Arkansas voters rate the U.S. economy as good or excellent, while 54% rate it as poor. While 24% believe economic conditions are getting better, 51% say conditions are getting worse. Seventy-one percent (71%) of Arkansas voters believe the U.S. economy is currently in a recession.

Only 24% in Arkansas believe the $787 billion economic stimulus package helped the economy overall, while 41% say it hurt the economy. By a 75% to 14% margin, voters in Arkansas believe cutting taxes is a better approach to job creation than increasing government spending.

Both candidates are well-known in the state, but at this point in a campaign, Rasmussen Reports considers the number of people with a strong opinion more significant than the total favorable/unfavorable numbers. In match-ups since Boozman entered the race in February, support for Lincoln has ranged from 29% to 36%. Boozman has earned 48% to 66% of the vote in those same surveys.

Democratic Governor Mike Beebe’s lead over his GOP challenger, Jim Keet, is now down to 10 points in the state’s gubernatorial race. Thirty-four percent (34%) of voters in the state now approve of the job Obama is doing as president, while 65% disapprove. . . . [Full Report]
