Bill Smith, ARRA Editor: Is this is the best President-elect Obama can offer Americans for the protection of the U.S. from 1) attacks by terrorists, 2) protecting our borders, and 3) providing direction in the time of National Crisis? Considering Napolitano's strong support for the "amnesty" guest worker program, it will be interesting to see what NumbersUSA, Veterans for Secure Borders, Minuteman Civil Defense Corps, and others feel about her nomination.

Janet Napolitano has been chosen to serve as secretary of the vast and troubled Department of Homeland Security for President-elect Barack Obama, Democratic officials said Napolitano is a border governor who will now be responsible for immigration policy and border security, which are part of Homeland Security’s myriad functions.
