December 4 is the new record for earliest snowfall for the city (the previous record was set last year on December 10). According to Chris McKinney, meteorologist with the National Weather Service office in Houston, it has never snowed two years in a row. In fact, snow is so rare in Houston that it has only snowed 33 times since 1895.
