Little Rock, Ark. – Republican Party of Arkansas Communications Director Katherine Vasilos released the following statement regarding Democratic Senator Mark Pryor’s Tuesday vote for big labor and refusal to reject an abuse of power by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB):

“Instead of protecting Arkansas workers from intimidation by labor organizations, Senator Pryor chose to side with the likes of union bosses, recalling the millions of union dollars dumped into Arkansas to defeat his friend Blanche Lincoln. Simply put, Senator Pryor cares more about protecting his own job than those of Arkansas workers.

“The NLRB’s overreach is an assault on Arkansas small businesses and does nothing but cripple entrepreneurial America and give unions unnecessary political power. Big labor’s attempt to obstruct job creation and punish right-to-work states like ours should have been enough to convince Senator Mark Pryor to stand with hardworking Arkansans. Clearly, Senator Pryor is out of touch with what drives the real economy - our small businesses owners.”

“Arkansas senators split today as the U.S. Senate rejected a Republican effort to overturn new labor regulations rules intended to limit management from stalling union work place elections. A resolution to “disapprove” the new rules adopted by the National Labor Relations Board last year failed on a 45-54 vote. U.S. Sen. Mark Pryor joined every other Democrat in voting to sustain the rule. Sen. Union Dumps Sen. Lincoln, Pryor Defends Lincoln’s Union Record

“Parting ways over card check and other issues, the Arkansas AFL-CIO dropped its longtime support of U.S. Sen. Blanche Lincoln today and endorsed her Democratic primary opponent, Lt. Gov. Bill Halter… U.S. Sen.
