Info Post
The Arkansas House rejected SB19 (35-45) that would have prohibited drivers under the age of 18 from using a cell phone while behind the wheel. The senate had previously approved the bill. In another teenage driving bill, the house previously rejected limiting the number of teenagers in a car during late evening hours. ARRA NOTE: proposed bills were introduced on a nonpartisan basis and were based on research which identified that both the rate of death for teenagers and the accidents by teenager significantly increased when teen drivers are distracted by cell phones and having several teens in the car especially during late hours. Obviously, research did not influence enough law makers to seek ways to save the lives of more teenagers or to reduce the number of accidents caused by teenage drivers.
