Saturday evening, the Iowa Republican party put on its Annual Lincoln Day Dinner in Des Moines - about a thousand people attended. All but two of the presidential candidates spoke. Tom Tancredo spoke right after dinner and told them that our leaders -- those who have been charged with the responsibility of defending our land, our culture and our sovereignty--refuse to do their jobs. Every generation of Americans must face its test, I told them, a test passed at Valley Forge, on the Normandy beaches, and on Flight 93. Whenever Americans see their country threatened or their flag falling, they act. This is their country; the country they built, that they fought and bled and died for. This is our culture; they need to fight for it. This is our flag; they need to pick it up. This is our country; we need to take it back. That is why I’m running for president.

The New York Times reported that “Tancredo drew some of the loudest applause of the night"! The LA Times reported that “the best-received was Rep. Tom Tancredo of Colorado, whose combative rhetoric on illegal immigration has defined his campaign. Videos: Part 1 & Part 2 of Event:
