Info Post
Bill Smith, ARRA Editor: Memorial Day is upon us tomorrow and William J. Murray warns that:
Secretary of Defense Gates stated this week that without congressional action "Two critical accounts will run dry." He stated that: "After June 15th, we will run out of funds In this account to pay soldiers, including those in Iraq and Afghanistan." He said about a second account, the Operations and Maintenance account, "Around July 5th, O&M funds across the services will run out, starting with the Army. This may result in civilian furloughs, limits on training and curbing family support activities." Meanwhile Democrat Senate Leader Harry Reid has added funding for Planned Parenthood to the Military Supplemental Spending Bill.
To veterans, one of the best Memorial Day tributes to us would be 1) the funding of our military and 2) not to play insulting games by adding funding issues which have no relationship to the military. Sen. Harry Reid reported that he was physically abused by a drunken father. Reid continues to demonstrate that this dysfunctional childhood affects his ability to properly assess and deal responsibly with authority figures be they the President or military commanders. Reid's internal issues have resulted in his inability to properly lead the US Senate. His national poll ratings as the leader of the U.S. Senate are the lowest ratings in history. Sen. Reid stop playing games - Fund our troops!
