Obama Wants You To Thank Him!

by Gary Bauer, Contributing Author: President Obama spoke at a Democratic National Committee fundraiser last night [4/15/2010] in Florida and once again proved he is clueless about the growing public opposition to Big Government and higher taxes. He specifically went after the nationwide protests of this week and actually said that we should be saying “thank you” instead of resisting his failed policies. You can see the video here.
President Obama: "We cut taxes for 95 percent of working Americans, just like I promised we would on the campaign. So, I've been a little amused over the last couple of days where people have been having these rallies, about taxes. You would think they would be saying, "Thank you!" That's what you'd think! I strongly recommend you save this clip on your computer and re-watch it as this tumultuous election year progresses. Every time you are feeling discouraged, growing weary or wondering whether any of this matters, replay the video to remind yourself of the arrogance and condescension of the man in the Oval Office. He said he is “amused” by the millions of Americans who are worried about the future of their country. If the rallies are amusing him, just think of how big of a laugh he will get when we elect dozens of conservatives to the House and Senate!

I sent this letter over to the president today:

You want us to thank you, Mr. President? For what? Are we supposed to be grateful for the debt you are piling on the backs of our children and grandchildren? Or is it for the massive tax hikes you are pushing through with more to come? Are we supposed to appreciate you for the constant apologies for America you deliver on the world stage? Or is it your disdain for the Constitution that should inspire us to feel gratitude?

Perhaps the millions of Americans who pay their bills, keep up on their mortgages, start small businesses and sacrifice daily are supposed to thank you when you “spread the wealth around” by taking their hard-earned money and giving it to someone whom you deem more deserving of it.

I will make one concession. Your arrogant promotion of a far Left agenda, which the American people reject, has awakened millions from their slumber. You are inadvertently rebuilding a vital conservative movement with every power grab, every new tax, every new regulation and every new assault on our values. For that, Mr. President, we thank you.
