Washington Times: The vast majority of American voters detect the presence of political bias in the mainstream news media, according to a Zogby poll released yesterday in conjunction with the George Washington University Institute for Politics, Democracy and the Internet. ARRA Editorial Comment: Poll bias is alive and well in online polls by various Arkansas newspapers. They often evidence bias in posed unscientific and pointed questions which allow only Yes or No responses. A recent example, was an online poll by The Baxter Bulletin in Mountain Home. Their question format was "Is "person x" doing an effective job? Yes or No" There was no explanation as to what was meant by "doing an 'effective' job" There was no focus on the issues, like: roads, airport transportation, committee appointments, getting along with the press, playing well with others, etc.? Nor was there an option for readers to respond using some type of scale be it numeric or descriptive. P.S. In fairness, our blog is informational and biased. Just like newspapers! But, we don't hide our bias like newspaper editors do in a myriad of newsprint and ads.
