Arkansas Senate Bill 959 by Senator Shawn Womack (R-Dist.1) which prevents state foster parenting or adoption by couples who are not married, or who are single with a live-in boyfriend or girlfriend, or singles who are homosexual got out of committee yesterday and may be voted on even today in the Senate. [See NWAnews article] Please call and leave a phone message for your senator at the the Senate switchboard (501-682-2902) and ask them to vote for SB959. You may then wish to call your representative at Representatives (501-682-6211). Gov. Mike Beebe had promised to support a bill banning homosexual adoption but is now saying he doesn't yet know if he can support this bill because it "may" include elements he hadn't considered when he made that promise.
