U.S. Representative John Boozman (R-AR) today announced he will co-sponsor legislation that insures Americans their Second Amendment right.

H.R. 197, the National Right-to-Carry Reciprocity Act of 2009 introduced by Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-FL) amends the federal criminal code to establish a national standard for carrying a concealed firearm. This legislation authorizes a person who has a valid permit to carry a concealed firearm in one state and who is not prohibited from carrying a firearm under federal law to carry a concealed firearm in another state in accordance with the restrictions of that state or as specified.

H.R. 17, the Citizen’s Self-Defense Act of 2009 introduced by Rep. Roscoe Bartlett (R-MD) reaffirms the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms. This legislation declares that a person is not prohibited under the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act from receiving a firearm shall have the right to obtain firearms for security and to use firearms in defense of self, family, or home, and for providing the enforcement of such right.
