As we saw in 2008, skyrocketing energy prices place a tremendous burden on families and the American economy. Although some analysts are quick to dismiss comparisons between today and 2008, they acknowledge a continued rise in gas prices could prove problematic for the economy.

A new consumer survey found that nearly three-quarters of Americans plan to cut back on their spending if gas prices continue to rise. This does not bode well for America’s struggling economy. And guess what? Gas prices will continue to rise.
America’s energy policy is in disarray and the Obama administration’s refusal to embrace domestic energy production has only exacerbated the problem. It is time for America – and politicians in Washington – to get serious.
