Info Post
Buried within news story in Sunday's ARKANSAS DEMOCRAT-GAZETTE was a bomb-shell for supporting traditional family values in Arkansas by Democrat leaders. It revealed a major shift in beliefs of Arkansas Democrat leaders at both the State and County level away from affirming "marriage as being only between a man and a woman."

At the 2006 Arkansas Democrat State Convention on 8/27/06, 700 Arkansas leaders and county delegates voted to approve a Democrat platform change that removed language previously stated in the 2004-06 platform which affirmed that marriage is between a man and a woman. Party officials said that was an issue during the election two years ago but isn't an issue this year. This effort was lead by Jay Barth, a political science professor at Hendrix College in Conway who also serves chairman of the AR Democrat Platform Committee.
