Both Ways Beebe lies to AARP

In the Arkansas Democrat Gazette (8/26) , Mike Beebe again refused to answer a question put forth by the AARP concerning "special legal protections for nursing homes." Asa was very clear, He would oppose laws that "restrain seniors from having meaningful recourse in court from abuse and neglect" Mike Beebe said " he has gone to bat" for seniors and taken on "issues of nursing home abuse and neglect." That of course is typical Beebe double talk and is not an answer to the question, but even more troubling is the fact that it is a LIE.

In 2001, State Senator Mike Beebe, at the behest of his good friends, the nursing home lobbyist, came to the HOUSE Judiciary Committee to testify FOR a bill that gave "special tort reform protections only for NURSING HOMES. We happen to be friends with the former Executive Director of the AARP at that time. The AARP opposed that bill and it was defeated in committee despite Mr. Beebe's urgings.
