U.S. Rep. John Boozman (R-AR) today issued the following statement as thousands of Americans participate in the March for Life on the 35th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision by the U.S. Supreme Court:Every human life has dignity, and I stand with the millions of Americans who will solemnly mark the anniversary of a decision which has resulted in the deaths of nearly 50 million unborn children. While the pro-life movement has succeeded in saving countless lives through such measures as banning the gruesome practice of partial-birth abortions, preventing taxpayer money from use by abortion advocates overseas, and parental notification laws passed by the states, we must recommit ourselves to the notion that all lives are protected equally.
We can take another important step by urging the leaders of Congress to bring forward and pass the Child Interstate Abortion Notification Act, which ensures that parents must grant permission for their child to cross a state line to obtain an abortion. It has passed the House before, and can do so again. We just need the will to do what is right. My prayers are with the families who will brave today’s cold weather to lend their voices to those who have no voice, as well as the millions of unborn children who rely on us to give them the opportunity to live.
