Arkansas - Vote "For" Initiated Measure 1
In Arkansas, election Day (Early Voting - Nov 4th) is upon us, and you have the opportunity to vote to protect adoptive and foster children in your great state. A vote “For” Initiated Measure 1 will ensure children a stable home and protect traditional family values in Arkansas.

The Arkansas Unmarried Couple Adoption Ban, Initiated Measure 1, would prevent unmarried, cohabitating couples, either heterosexual or homosexual, from adopting or housing a child of the foster care system. If passed, the measure will ensure that vulnerable children have the best chance of being placed in the stability and security of a married home.

Research shows that children raised in the refuge of a two parent, mother-father home perform the best in every important measure. Statistics also repeatedly show that cohabitating homes are among the most unstable environments for children.

The adoption and foster care systems have an imperative to make the best out of a terrible situation by providing children with the best possible home. Initiated Measure 1 would help agencies accomplish this task by prohibiting adoption or placement of children into unstable, cohabitating homes.
