| Sen. John Boozman |
Although Sen. Boozman is new to the Senate, he is not knew to the legislative process having already served as US Representative for the Arkansas 1st District. His experience should add much to these committees. Sen. Boozman responded to thes appointments, “I am honored to have the opportunity to represent our state on these key Senate committees that allow me to best serve Arkansans and work on the issues that are important to them. I look forward to working with my colleagues on these committees to produce sound legislation that meets the needs of our country in a fiscally responsible manner.”
Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry: Develops legislation on a diverse range of issues affecting our nation’s farmers, ranchers and rural communities including food production, energy, resource conservation, forestry and economic development.
Environment and Public Works: Responsible for protecting our natural environment, including air, water and wildlife. The committee also oversees our nation’s transportation systems and other public infrastructure.
Commerce, Science and Transportation: Has jurisdiction over a broad range of legislative subjects including science and research policy, space exploration, coastal zone management, interstate commerce, marine navigation and safety, consumer product regulation, aviation, rail passenger and rail freight, trucks, buses, highway safety programs, and many other important areas.
Veterans’ Affairs: Oversight responsibility for veterans’ benefits and providing for the health and welfare of the men and women who served our nation in uniform. The committee has jurisdiction over the Department of Veterans’ Affairs.
