The Central Arkansas Young Republican (CAYR) chapter was awarded Outstanding Small Club of the Year at the Young Republican National Convention held July 4-8 in Hollywood, Florida. Leslie Rutledge, Chairman of the Arkansas Federation of Young Republicans, was elected National Auditor.

Other delegates representing Arkansas at the national convention included: Yolanda Hugg, Lance Lemmonds, Jill Cox, Liza Freeman, Randell Shelton, Holly Lewis, and David McCoy. The Young Republican National Convention will be held again in 2009 in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Central Arkansas Young Republicans meet at Loca Luna in Little Rock on the third Monday of each month. The CAYRs focus on campaign activity at all levels, and in 2006 worked on campaigns from Justice of the Peace to Governor. They have welcomed candidates and local officials at their monthly meetings.
