by Gary Brauer: A picture went around the world yesterday that must have struck many people as very, very strange. Mrs. Bush is touring the Islamic world to raise awareness of breast cancer. Good for her. It's a serious problem for women worldwide. But did you see the photo? The first lady is seated between two women from the United Arab Emirates, one of the "moderate" Islamic countries. They are totally covered. One has an eye slit, and the other does not. This is the Islamic view of "choice." In much of the Islamic world, women are treated like cattle. They cannot vote, they cannot drive a car, they cannot be seen in public without their husbands and many are often abused by their husbands, who cite Sharia law in their defense.
