Thompson Leads for 4th Week in Poll; Giuliani almost even

Rasmussen Reports: This week was the fourth straight week that Thompson has led Giuliani in the national poll for the Republican nomination. Fred Thompson 25%; Rudy Giuliani 23%; Mitt Romney 13% and John McCain 10%. Still leading the lower tier is Mike Huckabee with 6%. Four other candidates split 4% of the vote while 19% are undecided (weekly results). Even though Thompson leads by 2%, Giuliani is within the poll’s margin of error, meaning that the race is even. However, Mitt Romney leads in Iowa and New Hampshire. Rasmussen Reports noted that Romney needs to win big in both Iowa and New Hampshire if he is to remain a viable top-tier candidate.
