NumbersUSA: (June 26) By a 64-35 margin, the Senate voted to bring S. 1639, the “corrected and updated” version of S. 1348, to the floor. On this matter, a senator’s “YES” vote on cloture was equivalent to a vote for amnesty. You should still contact your Senator today to oppose the passage of this bill although the number to pass the bill are much lower than for cloture and it appears a significant number of Senators have surrendered to pressure from the White House and a vocal leadership to pass this bill and to give it to the House of Representatives. Presidential Candidates who voted for Cloture were: Brownback (R-KS), Clinton (D-NY), McCain (R-AZ), Obama (D-IL). Both Arkansas US Senators Lincoln (D) and Pryor (D) voted for cloture.
