The Club for Growth: The Democratic Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, Charlie Rangel (D-NY), has a message for American taxpayers: "I want your money, and I want it now." Rangel released new legislation this week that will raise the highest income tax rate 4.3 percentage points to 39.3% as part of a plan to reform the Alternative Minimum Tax. Worse, when the Democrats let all the Bush tax cuts expire in 2010, the top income tax rate will soar to 44%. No doubt, Rangel and his buddies will spend America's hard-earned tax dollars on all sorts of crucial programs like subsidies for California spinach growers and peanut storage in Georgia.
