Citizens from Hot Springs, Arkansas went to Little Rock and delivered petitions opposing Amnesty Bills, signed by 8,154 Arkansans, to both Arkansas' US Senators offices. There efforts were part of citizen revolt that is spreading. Grassfire.org has reported that already 792,000 faxes and petitions have been sent to leadership opposing amnesty for illegals -- over 100,000 faxes scheduled since the Senate announcement! Leaders in Washington are getting ready to pass an "amnesty" immigration bill. Senate Leader Harry Reid is pushing to bring the amnesty bill to the floor of the Senate immediately. Meanwhile, the Kennedy-McCain negotiations are finalizing details of their amnesty bill. All agree on passing an amnesty bill as soon as possible. Grassfire has been one of the grassroots groups leading the charge to stop these amnesty bills. Grassfire plans to delivery petitions to the senate next week.
As of this posting, 632,998 people had signed a petition to be delivered to President Bush and Congress with the following major points:
#1 -- Secure our borders. As first priority, America must stop the flow of illegal immigration by investing all necessary resources in securing our borders. Also, existing immigration laws must be enforced as an essential component of our Homeland Security.
#2 -- No Amnesty. I oppose any form of amnesty for illegal aliens, including the “temporary worker” proposal or any proposals that grant legal residency status or citizenship to illegal aliens.
