Info Post
Originally conceived to mark the end of World War I in 1918 – when an armistice for “the war to end all wars” began on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month – Veterans Day now honors the service of everyone who served in the U.S. military. Today, November 11, is a day to remember and thank the men and women who have served in America’s armed forces for their service and sacrifices. For information on national and regional observances, the history of Veterans Day, to read President Bush’s Veterans Day Proclamation or to download this year’s Veterans Day poster, visit www.va.gov/vetsday.
A nation reveals itself not only by the men it producesbut also by the men it honors, the men it remembers - President John F. Kennedy
