by Bobby Eberle: Since the terrible events of Sept 11, 2001, the need for additional screening at airports has become apparent. A person doesn't need to travel with box cutters in order to get from A to B, so the new guidelines make perfect sense. Yet now, some are complaining of "racial profiling" because of a new policy of screening turbans at airports. The point here is simple: if you can hide explosives in a shoe, you can certainly hide them in a turban. . . . the new policy went into effect on August 4, "subjecting travelers to secondary screening at security checkpoints if they are wearing head coverings, such as cowboy hats, berets or turbans. The screenings could include a pat-down search of the head covering if the screener finds it necessary." The Sikh coalition is claiming that this new policy is going to lead to racial profiling. Don't even get me started on that one! The fact that ALL nineteen terrorists were radical Muslims seems to escape notice from some people.
